If March makes you think of Spring Break, make your road trip an
antiquing one and head to Charleston, South Carolina.
March 14-16: Charleston International Antiques Show
Benefiting the
Historic Charleston Foundation, this antiques show has come to be
regarded as a leading show in the South, in terms of the caliber of
the exhibitors. Some 30 dealers of national renown will display a
range of furniture and decorative arts dating from the late 17th
century through the early 20th century. In addition to the show
itself (admission: $15), which runs Friday and Saturday, 10-6, and
Sunday, 11-5, special events include a tour of the show led by
antiques experts (Friday and Saturday morning at 9:30, $25), and an
evening with noted interior designer/honorary show chairman Carleton
Varney (Saturday, 8 p.m., $150). The show is held at 40 East Bay
Street, Charleston; www.historiccharleston.org.
