EAST COAST
Oct. 5–6: Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania
A trout stream in autumn can be a glorious setting amid fall foliage blazing with color, but if you’d rather collect objects than trout, head to the Antique & Classic Fishing & Hunting Collectibles weekend auction organized by Salmo Sporting Collectibles, in Chadds Ford, a town about 30 miles southwest of Philadelphia, near the Delaware border. Salmo’s sporting-enthusiast specialty will be evident at the auction, which will feature such items as a circa 1890 trout fly reel, a bamboo fly-fishing rod, an antique creel, and an 1887 copy of Baker’s Delight: The Art of Angling.
Oct. 20–21: Oceanside, New York
At the Long Island auction house of Philip Weiss, a two-day auction includes many items of advertising, comic and illustration art, ocean-liner memorabilia, travel posters, and more. Among the gems for the Halloween collector: a Peanuts & the Great Pumpkin comic strip by Charles Schulz, and vintage Halloween decorations.

This year is no exception, as more than 50 of the best dealers of American country antiques and folk art will display everything from stoneware to quilts. The October show, a one-day event, takes place at the Hillview Community Center in Los Altos, and serves as a fundraiser for the Los Altos History Museum.
Oct. 25–28: San Francisco
Fine antiques from 70 American and European dealers make the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show an international affair. On display will be everything from English silver to Continental furniture and Asian ceramics. The show is held in San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center, and benefits Enterprise for High School Students.
