Top 10 Collectibles for 2007
2. SIX-BOARD CHESTS

What are they? Simple 17th- to 19th-century American-made storage chests constructed out of six wide (usually pine) boards.
How much will I pay? Between $500 and $2,300, depending on condition, form, and surface. Original paint and hardware greatly increase value and desirability.
Display ideas: Chests fit anywhere, such as under a window and at the foot of a bed. A doll’s or child’s chest (shown here with dealers John and Jan Maggs) is perfect in a small space. Use chests for what they were made for: unobtrusive storage.
