For the Love of a Garden
STAGGERED BLOOMING PERIODS

This "foundation planting" is of a very old lilac-colored, tall bearded iris. These iris were planted by the previous owner and their actual name has been lost in time, but Maxine calls them "Katherine Leigh" after the woman who planted them. The peonies are in a bed of peonies only, staggered to extend the flowering period to six weeks by having plants that bloom in early, mid, and late season.
