Country Design Meets Urban Loft

ENTRY

The entry sets the tone with a warm wicker buffet table topped with a lamp featuring a sophisticated black shade on a clear base. Glitzy beveled mirrors also reflect the overarching design principle of yin-yang, or opposites attracting.

In our 2004 showhouse, a 1,464-square-foot loft inside a 5-story former warehouse in Des Moines, Iowa, Mary Emmerling proves once again that the modern country lifestyle is a state of mind, not a zip code.
