Wake up a wood window box with brass details.

1. Build your own box using our how-to instructions, or purchase one from a nursery or home center.
2. Find your design. We were inspired by a vintage ribbon star quilt and traced its pattern onto the front of the box.
3. Using needle-nose pliers to hold each nail, hammer brass upholstery nails on the traced pattern. Outline the box with a row of nailheads for an extra detail.
4. Screw three L-brackets below the window to support the box.
5. Use either molded plastic liners or heavy sheet plastic to protect the window box interior.
