At the Nipomo Swap Meet, Sue found vintage clothes hangers for about $12 a piece (a lot for junk, but worth it, Sue says). Back at home, she and Ki picked out their favorite fabric scraps and used the hangers to make fun window treatments. This easy project is not meant to block light or be totally private, but it will spruce up any window.
Step 1. Cut a panel of fabric about an inch wider than the width of a vintage hanger.
Step 2. Sew on grosgrain ribbon, or iron on grosgrain steam tape (Steam-a-Seam) around the edges of the fabric panel.
Step 3. Embellish the top with decorative trim (again, either sew or iron on).
Step 4. Sew five vintage mother-of-pearl buttons across the top of the panel.
Step 5. Tie the panel to the hanger with extra trim, looped around a button.
Step 6. Hang the hanger on a nail above a window.
