Vintage serving trays make sorting through your in-box a stylish chore.
You’ll need two matching serving trays; metal or resin trays work great, and they’re often $2 or less. Drill through the bottom tray, then glue and screw on four 1-inch-tall chair-spindle pieces for legs. Repeat on the top tray, but use taller spindles. To give the top tray greater stability, stagger it so that its two back legs sit directly on the tabletop; you’ll need to cut the back legs slightly longer, so measure carefully. Broken (and cheap!) chairs are a great source of spindles. “People often forget to buy junk for its pieces,” notes Ki.
