Repurpose vintage iron rests into attractive bookends.

Mark and cut off the top of a 3-inch L bracket with a hacksaw (so they don’t show through the back of the iron rests.) Drill a hole in brackets to match holes in rests, if necessary. (We were able to use existing holes.) Paint L brackets to match iron rests. (We used Espresso Bean Deco Art metal paint from Michaels.)  Attach brackets to rests with small bolts and nuts. Touch up with paint.
