Serve up a creative light fixture with an old-fashioned egg basket and cast-off silverware.
Dozens of small souvenir spoons and forks provide the bling on this kitchen chandelier. Drill a small hole through the bottom of each handle and thread each piece with a short piece of 18-gauge wire. Twist the wire around the bottom of an old egg basket (which Sue found at a flea market for $15). This basket had a hole in the middle, which made it easy to install a socket, bulb, and heavy cord from a lamp-supply store. Ki recommends adding a strain relief (also found at hardware or lamp-supply stores) so the cord doesn’t pull the wiring out of the socket. Add an Edison-style bulb, and hang the finished fixture from the ceiling over the kitchen table or island. |
