Assorted found dishes join forces as serving stands for hors d’oeuvres and desserts.
Candleholders and small upside-down sundae dishes become bases, and glass plates and bowls on top create cake plates and compotes. Be creative: These projects can be made from something unexpected, like metal coasters stowed away in the attic or chipped dishes you wouldn’t serve alone. Sue and Ki find tons of mismatched dishware at flea markets for just $2 to $10. For good gluing, be sure both the top and bottom pieces have even surfaces—Ki used china glue and glass/metal glue. Or, leave them unglued if they’re stable and you want to switch them up later.
