LEAVES OF GOLD |
| |
Create a warm welcome for visitors and passersby with a natural entry decoration. Matthew made this doorway garland by wiring magnolia and lemon leaves to a strand of rope cut to length. He laid out the garland in a well-ventilated spot and sprayed it Swith gold floral paint from the crafts store. When the gold base was dry, he added bunches of wheat and millet, which are traditional Thanksgiving decorations symbolizing an abundant harvest. Easy to find in floral aisles, the dried grains offer a natural counterpoint to the gilded leaves. Other ingredients include dried seedpods and pomegranates, fern fronds, and gold wired ribbon. A similar blend of metallic and rustic was achieved in the arrangements in the flanking terra-cotta pots and in the door swag, which hangs from the knocker. . |
