  PETAL TO THE METAL
  Dressed as twins, two Scandinavian-style chairs perform as a hall bench. Choose any two chairs with square seats. Perk them up with paint, bolt them together, and layer on one long toile-covered cushion. A metal design reminiscent of pie safes gives the backs a punch of style. Check hardware stores for the supple metal used for roof flashing, then punch a traced pattern using an awl.
