Illuminate a mantel or tabletop with this fetching luminary. Cut out a “Norton deer: scene, familiar on antique jugs by potters J.&E. Norton, from scrapbook paper and wrap it around a glass cylinder. Insert a votive candle or a crumpled strand of battery-operated twinkle lights for a soft glow. Purchase a wide glass cylinder vase or reuse a florists’ vase. Wrap the vase in blue tissue paper and tape in place. Choose a piece of gray scrapbook paper, and give it the textured look of stoneware with a light wash of pale gray acrylic paint. When the paper is dry, tape this Norton Deer scene pattern on top. Using a cutting mat and a sharp blade, cut out the pattern. Tape the cutout scene over the tissue paper on the vase. Insert a votive candle or a crumpled strand of battery-operated twinkle lights for a soft glow.
