Katie gives forks and spoons a comfy home in wraps made from burlap scraps. To create a pocket, whipstitch or fabric-glue the sides together, then fray the edges. Fold over the top flap and glue on a button. Set these out, along with napkins, at the beginning of the buffet for guests to grab. “These simple projects will light up the day after Thanksgiving,” says Katie.
Materials:
Burlap

1. Cut burlap into a four inch by (two times the length of silverware plus 2 inches) strip.
2. Lay silverware on burlap and fold bottom up so that the top of the fork peeks out, as though you're tucking it into bed.
3. Remove silverware and sew using a basting stitch lengthwise half an inch in from the edge on either side to create a pocket.
4. Fray edges of burlap.
5. Fold over top flap and glue button in the middle.
