Put away the formal stemware from yesterday’s meal, Katie says. Instead, she dresses up her everyday glasses with “corsets” made from cork and elastic string. These pull double duty: Along with giving varied glasses a uniform look, the cork also acts as an insulator for hot or cold beverages. Katie likes to add a tag with a guest’s name to keep drinks straight.
Materials:
Thin cork, sold on a roll
Gold elastic string
Tools:
Scissors
Small hole punch
1. Cut cork to appropriate height and length for glass. Length should be a couple inches shorter than diameter of glass.
2. With hole puncher cut three holes along either end.
3. Wrap cork around glass and lace with elastic string as you would a shoe. Tie ends together and cut off excess string.
