Add origami-style light covers to a string of miniature Christmas lights.
The origami “waterbomb” pattern makes an excellent Christmas decoration—just slip completed paper boxes over miniature Christmas lights on a string of lights.
-
Use a square of paper. If using origami paper, star t with the white side uppermost. Mountain fold horizontally and vertically across the paper. Unfold each time.
Step 1
 |
- Form a vertical valley diagonal (the other creases are mountains). Unfold.
Step 2
 |
- Fold A down to D.
Step 3
 |
- Hold as shown. If the mountainsand valleys have been placed correctly, the paper will form a 3D pyramid when the hands are swung toward each other…...
Step 4
 |
- ……like this. Flatten A against B, and C against D.
Step 5
 |
- Fold A and C up to E. Repeat behind with B and D. (Note: To increase the size of the hole through which air is blown to inflate the waterbomb, fold the corners short of E. A hole that is too small is difficult to blowthrough.)
Step 6
 |
- Fold G and H to the center. Repeat behind.
Step 7
 |
- Fold A and C into the center at G and H.
Step 8
 |
- Valley fold the small triangle above A into the pocket made by separating the layers above G. Repeat with C on the right and twice more behind with B and D.
Step 9
 |
- The waterbomb is now locked, front and back. Blow into the hole at the bottom to make it 3D. If the hole is too small, enlarge it.
Step 10
 |
- The waterbomb is complete.
