Any shape of pumpkin wears this argyle-pattern twine decoration well. Wrap a fabric tape measure around the top of the pumpkin and, with a pencil, make marks an inch apart. Offset the marks on a second row slightly below the first. Repeat these steps at the bottom of the pumpkin. Using a hammer, tap in small brads on the marks; let the nail heads protrude a bit from the pumpkin. Thread a dark-color twine around the nails in the inner rows. Then, thread a light-color twine around nails in the outer rows.
Matthew’s Secrets
Once the nails are in place, you can play around with the pattern to get something you like. For the light-color twine, Matthew skipped every other nail to form large diamonds distinct from the darker twine underneath.
