For a festive, fresh vintage look, Matthew decorates his tree with these ornaments, made using complementary color palettes.
For #1–5: Matthew starts with big corrugated paper ornaments (available at craft stores). Using Mod Podge adhesive, he attaches fabric to the paper ornaments, then adds antique buttons and knick knacks for a finishing touch.
#6: A simple bow (gather fabric in the middle and tie with ribbon) spruces up ordinary spruces.
#7: A Styrofoam ball wrapped in a fabric makes a pretty orb. #8: Matthew wraps bowlfuls of tiny presents to use as ornaments or accents on larger gifts.
#9: An old Christmas card attached to corrugated paper adds a nostalgic touch.
#10: Gingerbread cookies not only look good— they smell good, too. Matthew tops his cookies with hard-drying royal icing.
